Rugby is a sport that attaches great importance to spirit. In the fierce fighting, strong collision, and fast running, it shows the rugby spirit of rugby players who are brave and tenacious, indomitable, selfless dedication, unity and cooperation, and abiding by the law.
(1) The spirit of hard work and selfless dedication
Rugby is the most intense physical confrontation of all ball games. Athletes must have the courage to overwhelm all opponents and overcome difficulties and hardships. For the honor of the team, they must be brave to fight. During the game, all the players on the offensive side bravely move forward to the opponent’s goal area with invincible momentum. In the attack, the defensive team fought and held the ball to the offensive team, and again and again to disintegrate the attack of the offensive team, all of which reflect the spirit of self-sacrifice, selfless dedication, and show the courage and style of the brave.
(2) The spirit of concerted efforts, close cooperation, and collective supremacy
Rugby is a collective sport of unified will, unified understanding, and unified action. When the offensive player gets the ball, he must run forward quickly, and other players must promptly support the team player to form a whole force to exert pressure on the defender. When the offense gets the ball, the defense will quickly intercept the offensive team members, form a defensive system in time, and put pressure on the offensive. The offensive and defensive sides continue to confront each other, fight wits and courage, or the offense destroys and breaks through the opponent’s defense system. Unstoppable; or the defensive side adopts an overall oppressive defense, with layers of defense, trying to turn the tide and turn the crisis into peace. Therefore, rugby pays more attention to overall combat and collectivism. This “all for me, I for all” is exactly the spirit of collectivism that modern society actively promotes. On the rugby field, if anyone neglects to cooperate with teammates and only pays attention to personal performance, even with superb skills and outstanding wisdom, it is difficult to accomplish anything.
